07B Chapter seven · Part two
Overgrown: Gears & Well
Use the gear mechanism to rotate the well's ladder route and create a safe path through the water structure.
FULL Chapter walkthrough
Complete puzzle guide
After the gas pipes, one explorer enters the water tank to restore the greenhouse supply. Opening the valve starts a timed flooding trap and rotates several climbing platforms out of place.
Start the water and identify each platform
The tank explorer climbs down the wall ladder and turns the handle at the bottom. Water immediately begins to rise, and multiple platforms rotate away from their usable positions.
The control-room explorer must restore the platforms from the gear board before the tank fills. The tank explorer should look at the pictures on both sides of the platform that needs to return, then use the ceiling to determine the direction of the corresponding picture.
Gear-board escape sequence
- Before opening the water valve, prepare the first gear path toward the upper-left Ringed Planet symbol.
- Turn the valve. Power the upper-left Ringed Planet ladder, then stop it when the climber calls the alignment.
- Repeat in this order: left Three Stars, upper-right Sun, lower-left Bright Star, then right Moon.
- The climber should call STOP one section before the movable ladder reaches the fixed landing, accounting for the mechanism's delay.
- A fixed landing sits between each movable tier. The climber may stand on a movable rung while it rotates, then step onto the fixed landing when aligned.
- Disconnect a moving gear or use a red stopping gear to halt a ladder. If rising water blocks the view, jumping gives a brief clear sightline.
- Align the final Moon ladder with the exit and climb out before the tank fills.
Rules for the gear board
- The center gear begins turning when the bottom valve is opened.
- Red gears stop power, so move them away from any route that must transmit rotation.
- Linked gears move as pairs. Clear unnecessary gears before connecting the route you need.
- A platform rotates only while power reaches its ladder symbol; disconnecting the train stops it.
- The unused lower-right ceiling symbol is the Comet. It is not part of the five-ladder escape sequence.
